Sexual fantasies are a healthy part of your sex drive and a great way to continuously evolve your game. And when it comes to dirty activities that land at the top of your bucket list, having a threesome is probably pretty high up there. Two naked women who not only want to sleep with you but also make out with each other seems like a no-brainer for well, most dudes. But if you’re in a seriously committed relationship, adding in another set of hand and breasts to your bedroom may not be the smartest idea.
When it comes to having a threesome while in a relationship — regardless if you’re adding a man or woman underneath your sheets — it’s a risky decision that could negatively affect the trust, sincerity and strength of your union. It could be a sexy experience, but if you want to get real with yourself: seeing your partner be intimate with someone who isn’t you is prime breeding ground for intense jealousy.
“Some people may think they like the idea, but once they do it, regret it. It ends up being something awkward they did not enjoy. Some people are not able to fix the relationship after a threesome, as one or both partners are jealous and insecure about what it meant, how the other person felt, enjoyed themselves, and if they were better,” psychologist Dr. Nikki Martinez, Psy.D., LCPC. “Some people used this as a means of trying to save a damaged relationship, and did not really want too. This rarely fixes things, but just makes them worse.”
